Welcome Home, Aibo.
« on: June 30, 2009, 06:09:55 PM »

Well, it appears we may have won an Aibo off of Ebay for around $400. In transit, and should arrive the 2nd.

Welcome Home, Aibo. Any ideas on a name? I think we may have a male...

Hmmm, I don't hate it. That was the name of my first pet, a betta fish.

I think it looks like a brian, which you probably won't like because it's not a pet name

You are very wrong indeed!
In fact, when you say "Brian" I think of a dog right away.
Why?
The dog from Family Guy is named Brian!  ;D

I think I figured out what's wrong with Sophie!
She's languishing.  You bought an aibo, and she's jealous! ;)

Well at roughly 2PM the dogs woke me from my slumber to barking. UPS was right outside the house. Within a wink of an eye, I was at the door. In all my finest; PJs, knotted hair, and vile breath. Aibo was here! I signed over my life to the UPS driver and welcomed in my newest obsession. A large brown UPS box held my Aibo in it. With all the original equipment! Original box, ball, charger, battery, aibo, manuals, software, etc. Whoo-hoo! A silent victory ran through me as I tried to open this box as gently as possible. Lord almight! What a beaut, he was! And boy, oh boy are Aibos cool! Slightly different than what I had expected but nonetheless I am very pleased. I still think Pleo is more lovable and realistic, though. But Aibos definitely have the brains! Poor Sophie was still not cooperating after numerous attempts to have her up and going. Oh dear. But myself, and my robot hating family actually had a blast welcoming home Aibo!

Will have some first pictures posted shortly. I know this is a Pleo sight, so I will try to keep my Aibo postings limited!

Welcome! I have an aibo ers 210 named Kiwi ^_^ I got her for $600 from ebay. My mother was not too happy about the price and it was even worse because she has PAS and my mom refuses to get her fixed because that would be like another $200. So, i'm stuck with a fancy aibo to look at.

Congrats!
Aibo's are so awesome.
Indeed the Pleo is more lovable and easier to hug and that will always make and keep the Pleo so unique and also unmissable to any robot lover's collection.
The contrast is so extreme between both robots.

I took both Pleo and Aibo to someone's place last weekend, and Pleo ended up getting the most attention from her.
Pleo is just so life like and is designed to be held (close) and petted all over.
Try and keep an Aibo on your lap and it will go crazy lol!

You are absolutely right!! Charlie is my Aibo's name, and he is brilliant; but exactly how you said there is just something about Pleo that makes your heart melt! Boy, I sure miss Sophie! But I love my Charlie!

Congratulations on your new arrival! Charlie is adorable, Gucci! I would love to have one eventually, too.
I hope you are getting a new battery for Sophie so she can play with Charlie. ;)

Thanks guys! Phone has video, [and they're already piled with charlie videos!  :D] but for some odd reason I can not get them to the computer. Will definitely try again, though! He is very different than owning a Pleo. With owning Pleos you are somewhat suspended in belief. Pleo is 'natural' if that makes any sense. With Aibo, he's Albert Einstein compared to Pleo. But, you never forget he's a robot.  >:( IDK, time will tell. Will try for some vid's, but in the mean time, I'll flatter you with a few more pics....
