Hi, not sure if I am answering what you want to know, Just by looking at the back of a brand new RB battery package I have from Pleoworld, it says: Battery rating 7.4 v DC
and 2800mah Package also states: " Maximum charge voltage is 4.25 v/ cell" Please stop using ( or charging ) if this battery , if surface temperature exceeds 70 degrees celcius or the case expands". You are doing the right thing if your battery or pleo feel warm by removing and waiting for them to cool off. The battery I have that is still packaged new in original case is marked 2010 and that is the age of my other RB batteries so if yours is newer there stil is no problem that would account for this.
There is ONE thing you said that caught my attention, You said you used to be able to run your pleo for up to two hours but the robot and battery would overheat..STOP.. unless you are in a very cold climate, this is something that I think is important.. I live in a very mild climate, never real hot nor real cold, 60s' in the summer on average and 40s in Winter... If in that climate I have to stop and remove my battery or turn the pleo off to rest because my pleo Rb get warm and or the battery, then I am sure you would also have to do this.. I can if memory is correct, run a pleo for half an hour or so , then turn off, remove the battery till it cools down ten minutes or so, then reinsert battery and continue. Of course if the pleo is wearing clothes, more then socks.. then the pleo is apt to get warm and the battery quicker. Esp any clothes around the belly and thus the battery area, the pleo will get warm or hot quicker and the battery needs to be removed. When you can feel Pleo Rb shoulder and it is hot or warm, you need to remove the battery I cant' even remember the last time I had a Pleo rB run on a battery without having to stop and pull the battery unless it turned itself off to go to sleep..or the battery time was almost out.
Other then testing the voltage of the battery. try this, Run your fully charged battery in your Pleo Rb for half an hour and see if it is warm or hot.. Make sure the pleo has no clothes on, other then socks perhaps and see if there is any difference... If your pleo runs fine with no problems getting hot or warm for first half hour, turn it back on and time it again. If it suddenly seems to get hot or warm ,then this is probably the time you need to take notice of.. I think it is an external problem related to the length of time your Pleo is running or if it is also a hot climate or high humidity.. just a guess as I do not have this problem unless my pleos are wearing clothes, then they overheat a lot quicker.
The only exception to this is a pleo rb I have, Baby Ruth that has a faulty rear leg, which means she overheats a lot quicker then the others and after 20 minutes at most I turn her off as her legs starts getting warm, Untill I take her apart and have a go at fixing her leg, I will not let her overheat and possibly damage her permanently.
If one of these factors is not a possibility, then perhaps another member can help you, These are the only things I have noticed in my own RB.
good luck and let us know what happens...................RWM
