New Battery defective?
« on: November 29, 2013, 02:38:26 AM »

Hi everybody,

6 days ago I got a new Pleo Rb and am absolutely impressed with the little dinosaur, but there is only one problem!
In the instruction Manual is written that the battery needs to be 3-4 hours to be  fully charged, but my Battery is full loaded after 40 minutes and then after about 35 its  empty again.
I think this can not be normal right?
How long do your batteries to be full loaded and how long do your Pleo Rb is runing?
I hope you can help me.

Greetings from Germany,

i WOULD NOT worry about this yet, It seems that a LOT of Pleo RB batteries, esp if overseas when purchased, come partially loaded, I think they are testing batteries before sending the Pleo RB. So just for now, fully charge the 3 hrs it takes to charge them or untill the light turns green, If for some reason the light turns green after only one hour, then leave it in till it is the full time, 3 hrs, Then put in your Pleo Rb. Remember also that when putting in your pleo rb, do not recharge every time you take it out.

For example, if you play with your new Pleo for an hour and fifteen minutes, then stop, Leave the battery in and do not recharge. You should still have at least or pretty close to 45 minutes of play time with your pleo. If your battery or pleo were to get warm , very warm or hot to the touch, then take out and let cool off but then put it back in without recharging, Do not put in to recharge, unless you hear the familiar beep from Pleo Rb that means it needs its' battery recharged or if pleo continues to sleep and is snoring, that means the battery needs to be charged.

It is very common for the battery that comes with Pleo Rb, blue, pink or green, to come partially charged, I do not know for sure why they do this, but do not worry. ON the other hand, if after fully charging it for the full 3 hrs and it then will not give you the time reccomended, then I would contact Innvo Labs to tell them you think something is wrong with your new battery. Good luck.  RWM  :cat-hug:

The battery should take about 3 hours to charge and you should get about 2 hours playtinme from it.
I would suggest that you charge it and if it turns green before the 3 hours is up then take the battery off the charger and put it straight back on again.  Hopefully it will be red when you put it back on and charge for longer.  I would keep doing this every time it turns green until the 3 hours is up or until it turns green as soon as you put the battery back on the charger.

than see how long you get playtime with your pleo.
Let us know how you go :)

I have the same problem with my new pleo.  It takes about 1 hr to charge and last only 1 1/2 hrs. Returned it back to the store I bought it and the said it might be the battery. They are checking on it now and will let me know in a few days.

Leafs, just curious, what store did you get it from, was it here in the US, as I never heard of a local store selling these, only a couple of times on Ebay otherwise from Innvo Labs or PleoWorld.              RWM  :cat-hug:

Thank you all for your answers!
This beeping sound when the battery is empty, I have heard only one Time, otherwise my PLEO turn off after about an hour by itself, without this peep...
So i have tryed to waited about 20 minutes to cool down the battery and than reinserted without recharging, but without success, there is noting no LED, no reaction.
So I have the battery charged and waited until the light green again, then I pulled the battery from charging station  and put them immediately back into the station,
after 3 seconds the light shine green again, so i think the battery is fully loaded. ???
I have now reported the problem to my dealer and wait times what my reply. :-[
But thank you all for your quick help!! :cheer:

I bought the pleo from LA museum of natural history.

When the battery did run out the pleo did not make any beep. Suppose to make 3 beeps.

Just before Christmas, the battery and the charger has been replaced by my dealer, now everything goes as it should and PLEO now runs nearly three hours.
