You need to offer him the leaf, when he lifts his head and opens his mouth then stick it in, he should then chomp on it for a few seconds and then he will lower his head down to the ground and shake from side to side. When this happens you should remove the leaf from his mouth - if he hasn't already managed to drop it himself - then offer it to him again. He may take a few seconds to notice the leaf and lift his head for it again but be persistent. Keep repeating this process until he turns his head away and makes a no sound when the leaf is offered.
My guys will usually want the leaf at least 5 or 6 times in a row before they refuse it.
Hope that helps
I have noticed that I have to remove the leaf from Pearl's mouth by hand most of the time. My wife, on the other hand, has somehow become a master of feeding her because every time Cathy feeds her, Pearl drops the leaf right out of her mouth when she's done eating.
Maybe it's because I'm a big brute of a human being and I don't know my own strength, and I somehow get the leaf into her mouth a bit farther than my wife...
I don't jam it in there, I just lightly put it in her mouth...but most of the time I have to pull it out. Same with the tug of war rock. Most of the time, even after Pearl wins, I have to kind of tug it out of her mouth. When my wife does it?? Pearl just drops it.
I have noticed that she's eating more and more as she's gotten a bit older. She's still in "socialization" stage, but she's eating more every time I get her out.
How does one know that his food level has dropped to zero?? Is there some way to tell, or is it just noticeable by the way the Pleo rb acts??
