Sara tail problem
« on: January 21, 2013, 02:17:22 AM »

Hello

Already problems with my Pleo  :(

In the last days I noticed that his tale is moving only up/down, is not moving right/left. Only the tip of the tail have a very small movement, few millimeters in each direction. There is anything I can do to , or can I check something to see if one of the cables inside are broken or stuck ?
Thank you

If you have a micro SD card you can download the following skit to test the tail and neck movements.  It was a skit made by Crewella for testing necks and tails as a few of us have had a go at fixing them.
http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=70
It will put the neck through a sequence of up down, side to side and then the tail both up down and side to side exploring the full range of movement.   If you get no sideways movement then it probably is the cable that has broken :(  in which case you will need to contact Innvo - pleoworld customer service and they will most likely get your pleo sent back to them for either repair or replacement.

Unfortunately I think the cable is broken.
Sara was purchased by a friend who ( of course) can`t  find the invoice, and without  invoice no warranty
So, I have to try to repair it myself.
I hope i can find an useful "how to "

Thank you for your support

From what people have said, tail repairs are harder than neck repairs. I would speak to Crewella or Kat before diving in. I know there are a few neck-repair videos but I don't know of any for the tail. Good luck with getting your little one fixed.

My friend will go this week back to the store where Pleo was purchased to see if thee is something to do if he lost the invoice ( the store should have at least a copy)
But anyway I am very disappointed. I paid a lot of money and after just one month the tail broke . I will not recommend Pleo to anyone from now on, especially that in Romania they don`t have any contact person and for problems I have to send it back from the purchased country  ( postage paid by me of course), Germany in my case  :(
I can wait to meet Innvo Labs at CEBIT 2013 to tell them my opinion about the quality of the product.

As pleo is sold at a very limited number of places I would think taking her back to the store and explaining the issue and how old she is they should be able to help you out.  Fingers crossed they can do something for you.  otherwise do contact Innvo via the customer support at pleoworld.  Explain the problem and your concerns with paying postage for getting her repaired or replaced and see what they say.  It always helps with Innvo to include a video of the issue for them to look at.  I had a pleo I returned and had replaced a long time ago now but they paid the postage for me.  If you don't ask you don't get and the worst that can happen is they say no.  Then you are no worse off than you are now.  Can't hurt to ask.

Please don't go chopping your Pleo open without knowing what you are in for ??? The tail is hard to get to and does require a lot more destruction than a neck repair, not to mention you could potentially do more harm than good as it will void any warranty.

I have repaired a tail cable and there is a photo video of it but as the others say it is a very big complicated job requiring removal of both back legs and half the pleos belly contents just to get to the cable housing.  I think you are best off talking with Innvo.  I really think they will help you out.  They do have good customer service once you get past the communication barriers.  I would exhaust that possibility first and all others before even considering opening up to do surgery.  :)

I will do exactly like you say. My friend will talk with the store representative and see what can be done. I hope they will understand, especially that my fried is a loyal customer for them.
I don`t rush to repair it myself. For us she is our beloved friend, regardless if she move the tail or not.
Thank you for all your advices, I will keep you informed about this. Maybe I will have luck and the problem will be solved without complications.

Good luck, fixing tail cables isn't easy, and it's best to try the warranty option first.
