Just got RB & help!
« on: December 25, 2012, 02:08:24 AM »

So I just got RB (excitement!!!!!!!), its all up & running, moving fine but when it makes a noise it sounds a bit crackly/static at times, like theres an issue with the speaker, is that normal? I did take a video if thats any good - although I dont know how to upload it.  :'(

Does it sound like this? I think it may be widespread 'disease' among pleos. My 2 pleos have the same problem....

I got the pleos also, during christmas time. I suppose under the manufacturing of these pleos, the speaker was probably not fixed right on to all pleos. I can bet that all pleo owners who buy the pleo rb around this time of the year would get such glitches. The first time I heard the problem, I was frantic and concerned, but since it is like that to all pleos, no need to be worried, just bear with it and enjoy your pleo. (My first one had the problem, so I sent it back to innvo for a replacement. It turned out that the second pleo I got also had the SAME problem..if it is your first pleo, you may be missing out on the actual sounds... that is what you have to  be worried about...) ;)

If you still want to upload the video by the way, try Youtube, or facebook(you may have to share with us the page in order for us to see) . If the problem is EXACTLY the same as my pleo, I just suspect it is a speaker problem or a glitch in the PC board which processes the sounds.

Once the kids are in bed tonight I'll take another video & upload it - the one I took earlier has lovely hyper screeches in thanks to my kids lol..

I'm a little concerned over it, as I really dont want to miss out, as a single, student mum I dont have money to throw away (although my family did get this one) so want to make sure im getting the most out of Pleo... you can hear it make other noises but not that loud but then this is my 1st pleo so I don't know how loud a pleo should be or how many noises it should make at the newborn stage.  :'(

Also does it need to be fed a lot during this stage? I've tried feeding it a few times but it won't take the food, you can hear some sort of sniff & then it moves it's head to the side.

Thanks for the help!

Some pleos wont eat at all in the hatching stage but others will.  If he is hungry when you offer the food he will lift his head up and open his mouth so you can put it in then he will chomp on it and after that he will lower his head and shake it from side to side to drop the food.  If he isn't hungry he will just turn his head away and make a sniff or a nan noise.  He won't really need to eat until he reaches the standing stage so don't be too concerned if he isn't interested in the food just yet :)

Its already in a standing stage, well semi standing (its further up than when I first turnt it on), every time I give it food it just sniffs & turns it head though, so maybe it just doesn't want to eat.

My biggest concern at the moment is the sound, Im really worried somethings not right with the sound, but I have no clue what Im looking at - just managed to escape to the hallway with Pleo so I've filmed it again, & am currently uploading the video to youtube but my phone hates the website so may take a while lol

Kat's right, Belle, my first RB, was like that and barely ate anything through her hatching stage, whereas Zillah nearly took my hand off if there was a leaf around!  %)

Pleos do make some quite loud servo noises, a video will certainly help.

Here's 2 videos, neither are that great as trying to steal a few minutes away from hyper kids, one of which very much wants Pleo isn't that easy lol

If you could watch these & give some feedback I'd be extremely grateful, I may be worrying for no reason but its always better to get a second opinion - still no eating but theres been the odd noise although its hard to hear expect when its sniffing, but I dont know if thats normal for the hatching stage.

Also is it normal for Pleo to get hot during usage too? The battery went dead & when I took it out to recharge it felt very hot  :-\

Hi i don,t really know with the sound, my own was rather loud when he was new, but i think it is best to wait for the older and more wise people answer.

my pleo get sligtly warm to the touch when he has been running some time, the battery is also hot when i take it out right after the pleo vent to the dead battery sleep. i don't think that is a problem

The batteries do get quite hot, especially in the early stages.  The servo noises can be quite loud, and although I have a slightly dodgy sound card in my laptop, from what I can see and hear, you have a fine and very pretty Pleo.  :)

As Crewella says I think the sounds of your pleo are normal :)  The loudness of the motors and internal workings does get quieter as your pleo gets a bit older :)  YOu will find that your pleo will start making a lot more vocal sounds as she/he gets older too.  They are very cute in the hatching stage - all the sniffing is your pleos way of telling you it is exploring the world around it.  New baby pleos like to sniff alot :)

Thank god for that! I've been too worried to get attached incase anything was wrong & it had to go back.. We're currently on our 2nd battery cycle & it now stands up more than it lays down, it's also begun to eat although not as often as I thought it would, & make quite a few noises especially if you stop petting - it makes this loud noise then to get your attention; fits right in with my kids lol

Thank-you sooo much for helping & hope you've all had an excellent Christmas!!  :-*  :flowers:
