I need some help, I just got my pleo!!!!!
« on: August 23, 2012, 09:42:17 AM »

Hi out there,
I just got a new pleo rb from the store. It's actually for my kid's but still we don't know what to do and how to play with him. I watched many videos and read the manual from the Pleo... but I'm not sure if we are doing the best to make him as smart as he can be. We started today morning with him... so far we call him Leo ;-). So I have some questions to u, is it ok if more than one person plays with him, also is it a problem if he stands on a carpet, different rooms? Most of the time our Leo is sleeping, he can not walk yet and he is hardly responding, is that normal? We pay him alot of attention, mostly he is moving his neck and he eat a few times. I hope u can help me out in this, many thanks, Sandra

He's fine, he's just a newborn baby, in effect, and it will take him a while to start trying out his legs and new noises. :)

I believe petting them on your lap and held up against your chest can help them to develop more quickly, though not by much.  The time will also depend on the original character of the Pleo RB.  Just enjoy him and watch him develop. :)

Oh, and as long as he gets fuss, he doesn't care how many different people do it! ;)

Mine were all different, but took their first steps after 4-6 full battery cycles .... and could learn their name not long after that ..... but all are different and some people's have taken longer.  They have to be well fed and happy before they will oblige! :D

As Crewella says, He is in his baby hatching stage which will last about 2 battery cycles.  This is the stage where he has just been born and so will lay in a stretched out position and make cooing noises moving his head and tail a bit.  Somewhere around battery cycle 3 you should see him move into the next stage in the hatching and he will stand for the first time :) You will see him trying out a range of new sounds and slowly stretching his legs over the next few battery cycles until eventually he reaches the walking stage somewhere around 4 to 6 battery cycles depending on your pleo's personality although I do have one pleo that took 8 battery cycles before she walked so they are all different.   It should only be 2 to 4 battery cycles after that before you can teach him his name :)  Have fun with him :)  He wont mind how many hands pat him as long as he is getting the attention :)

Just remember a Pleo with loads of attention is not likely to walk away from it in a hurry ;) You may need to ignore him a bit when he's on his feet to encourage him to explore.

Only one person will be able to do the voice commands I'm afraid. And you must say it EXACTLY the same every time, which is all but impossible for children to do :( It would be best if you take charge of the naming and commanding.

Yeah :) the microphone is surprisingly good. At my old house my lot would get 'distracted' by cars driving past :P
