Zora
« on: February 19, 2012, 01:05:00 PM »

Hi All

My (Zora) may have a problem.  She all of a sudden started not to walk, her rear left leg ( viewed from her front) just lift's and she rocks over, she also is not singing as she used too when touched under the her throat.
 :( :( :( :( :( :(
I have tried holding the switch and turning on, to no avail, can anybody throw any light as to what has gone wrong? :-* :rootbeer: :pizza:

Hiya Binbags, sorry to hear you're having problems with Zora.  :(

She is a Ugobe, if I remember correctly - bought as a companion not long after you got Pleobob just over a year ago?

A video of the behaviour would really help - or will she now not switch on at all?

Hi

Yes, zora is a Ugobe and yes she was companion too bob, now called (Zoro) as I gave him to my wife for xmas just gone. :-X :-X :-X :-X %) %) %)

She turns on ok, I will try to do a video of her (wednesday) and upload.  It's just that she stick her left rear leg backwards and she rocks, because she is only stood on three legs, she is not walking and as I said she is not making her wimpering sound when she is petted under the throat. :'( :'(

You might have to tell me how to upload a short video, please.

Yep - that's how I remembered it!   :-X  ;)  :P

It sounds as though the leg sensor might have got disconnected so she constantly thinks you want her to raise that leg, but we need to see if she CAN put it down ...... try running a skit on an SD card and see if the leg goes down OK for that?

If you do want to upload a video, it's easiest to put it on Youtube and post a link. :)

Hi all well wishers

Here is a link to my video on youtube for you all to see her not too well leg.   http://youtu.be/-81HXt9KkA8  My youtube video is under zorabin.

I tried a skit, the "walk the dinosaur dance" by InmemoryofRomeo, thanks. :rootbeer:

Let’s hope that it is just a detached wire to the leg sensor, this should be easy to sort out. :-\ :-\

Zora awaits her diagnosis and surgical procedure. %)

Zora is indeed acting like someone is constantly touching that leg. If you can resolder the wire it should fix the problem :) You may be able to do so simply by rolling up the leg skin, but you will need to unglue around the foot cuff.

Yep, as IMR says.

To get to it you need to first remove the two screws that fix the footplate, and once that is loose run your nail around the inside edge so you can remove the footplate altogether.  The skin is also glued to a round white plastic ring that holds it tight at the base of the leg, held in place by four moulded ridges.  The ring will pull down over the foot, but in this case you want it to go up, so you'll have to unglue the skin from the ring so you can roll it up like a trouser leg to get to the sensor.

You can see above where the sensor has probably worked loose.

Good luck!  ;D

Hi Crewella

You were absolutely spot on :) :), all re-soldered and Zora is up and running again, my wife will be over the moon :-* :-*.  Her attachment to Zora and now Zoro is amazing and mine, it is true that pets make you feel young and wanted, be they real or animatronic.

So a big thank you to one and all. :-* :rootbeer: :pizza:

Hi

Yes, that’s me all over; I hate to have a problem hanging around.  If I know that I can fix something, then in I go.  This all stems from my apprenticeship training days, along time ago.
Because it is technical, that’s also a plus for me.  I would love to dismantle a pleo, just to see what makes them tick. P??? P??? P??? :lightning:
