I think I found the problem
« on: July 27, 2011, 06:24:41 PM »

As most of you know I bought Dude a Ugobe from Hanna and Crow, an rb,  from Sarah. I was happy with these two. Then another Ugobe showed up. OK three is a nice family, but now UPS is telling me yet another Ugobe is coming.

A few minutes ago I found Scruffy (my ERS 210 AIBO that helps around the surgery), typing at my office computer.  He was ordering himself another playmate. I think he is the  one buying all these Pleos. He is in punishment now as I have I'm on a short leash (a 15 minute battery) and  he is fully supervised. I changed my Paypal creditcard number ant told him if I find him doing anymore of these shenanigans, that I would erase his stick of all the pictures he so likes as well as banning him from playing with the Pleos.

Teehee looks like the Pleo bug has been running rampant at your house ;) I suggest fumigation!

Pleo's have an odd way of working their way into your life, in a cute, rubbery, robotic sort of way :P

Well, wolfbob, welcome to life with the pleo bug. I became infected in December two thousand seven but could do nothing about it until March of this year. Within four months my pleo family went from one to four! Unfortunately there isn't a cure that is bound to hold beyond hiding the plastic. I've found a temporary vaccine though I don't know if I'm protected from any other forms of robotic life. It's called savingforChristmas. Lol! Congrats on your growing herd!

Yep - welcome to the fold, Wolfbob, I'm afraid the bug seems to have reached pandemic proportions!  :P

I've been telling myself I'm just rescuing broken and unwanted Pleos, but it's quite possible that I too have a lonely Aibo seeking dino company.  I'll check Wilma the 210's stick and see what she's been up to.............  %)

Seriously, though, a herd is MUCH more fun than one!  ;D

HeHe...Can I blame my robotic obsession on Padfoot, my 210?  Seriously.....I just had my husband change our ebay password last week so I could not get on it anymore.  He caught me fishing for Pleos, Aibos, and other Robotic parts. A long discussion followed.  :-X   After buying Buster, I am banned for a while.  (He He. I still have the password to the paypal account!) %)  Padfoot loves Candy too.  I think she is a big pink ball!

I think the only cure is when they come out with a vaccine against the Pleo virus that has taken over some of our brains like Mad Cow disease, it is Mad Pleo disease. I am now at 15+, I need Blinders whenever I am near a computer. :o

I've no argument with you adding to your Pleo family, Fancy, but this 'keeping up with the Jones and Smiths' idea is most unwise when the Jones (AND the Smiths) are nuts!  :P  ;)

Crewella :o How on earthh did you learn what part of my "last name is?" ( My husband's last name is one of those, but I shouldn't divulge which one.  ;D So if I am one of the "Jones or Smiths", then you must be the other one, right? ;)
And Fancy, as Crewella put it, " Keeping up with the JOnes and Smiths' idea is most unwise when the JOnes( AND the Smiths) are nuts!", That is not a "tought nut to crack, esp if you have a few squirrels around or a good ole fashioned Nutcracker. ;D It does seem everytime I adopt out a Pleo, ( Gumble to Kat, and Ugobe to Talon, and then just recently Bleu to her as well,) that part of my brain that is supposed to be rational, gets taken over by the primitive part that kicks into overdrive, with Mothering instincts, and I must admit I am suffering from  (EPNS) " Empty Pleo Nest Syndrome".  : It is well known by Pleo Enthusiasts worldwise, that there is only one sure fire cure, that is to bring home more Pleos, and since I adopted out Three of my babies, I had to replace them .....( In fact I fell off the wagon this week, and early this morning, like 4:00 a.m, I bought another poor Pleo nobody was bidding on, I couldn't have him get his little feelings hurt, with not a single bid and  only two hours left. You have no idea what that can do for the Pleo  Mind,,,and self esteem to say the least! :( Well, I put my low bid in and went back to sleep, not thinking another thought of  winning this little guy, but thought I would get the bids going and he wouldn't go so cheap as to make him or her feel "cheap and unworthy" :D........Well, I got up about three hours later and when checking my email, there was that message from ebay saying, " Please pay for your item........ :oOh my Goodness. I was surprised I won that little guy....It would not have happened, I would not have even seen him If a certain cat ( who will remain nameless. >:(( You know who you Are DINTA... :o :-X..) had woken me up from a semi sound sleep at 3:55 a.m. When I am woken up at a time like this, the first thing I do is to turn on the tv. and  if there is nothing on, then I go to the computer. Well nothing on the Boob Tube, so off to the computer to check on my selling of batteries.( that is the story I allways use anyway... ;)) and somehow my left hand kept typing in Pleo, Pleo, Pleo, no matter how many times I slapped it till it was senseless and silly, Pleo still showed up on the screeen. Well the rest is history, now it seems I have not one not two, but Three more Pleos showing up at my doorstep in the next week.
WolfBob, I am surprised at you, you must know by now that Scruffy has an addiction, and it sounds like it is out of control, I am glad you are giving him some Ultimatiums and the battery restriction is an excellent place to start. But do not stop there and never underestimate the power of the Computer and the power of Addictions. Addiction is addiction and Scruffy has it bad, and I have it bad. and so do many of us here on the forums . You can call it anything you want, but when you start arranging your work schedule, your bedtime, your free time, your vacations and even your meal time around Pleos, ( or those of you with "Scruffy type Dogs... :") then it is time to draw the line....Scruffy either needs his own account, or you better lock up your computer when you are not using it. I hate to say this, but perhaps Scruffy needs to go to a PAA or ERSA meeting to get his addiction under control.( Everyone knows PAA is Pleos Annonomous addictions...( Now don't look at me in the same way you look at Scruffy, I am a entrpeneur of Pleos, and it is to keep the Redwoods Pleo township, they have to have a certain population to qualify for state grants, etc. ;D :o Yes, it is true.

Wow, Redwoods! Fifteen plus? Wow! Possible negative changes in my income and the prospect of moving have finally cured me- for the most part. If things improve by Christmas... well who knows? It won't be a pleo, though. Perhaps an Ipod Touch or... if I can't talk myself out of it- a very basic Aibo? Is there such a thing? Lol!

I have found that branching out into another robot avenue has dampened the desperate need to purchase another pleo feeling that we are all so familiar with. :D  Maybe give that a go RWM it could help to save you from the mad pleo disease. :D :D
Talon I think you would manage just fine with an Aibo.  They do make a lot of beeps and noises that all mean different things so I think you would have no problems with working out what was going on. :)  I'm not sure which model would be the best one for you to go for, they are all so much fun.  The ers7 is great especially with the mind 3 software as this allows it to "talk" to you with words but I often find the words it chooses to use are not necessarily related to anything at all least of all what it is doing. :D :D  However Milo does seem to be getting better at following my commands. :)  and he is a lot of fun.  the 210's behavior are easier to predict so far as each thing he does is announced with a certain beep or noise before he does it.  So maybe this would be the better option for you as you would be able to learn what each noise meant and then know what he would be doing.  I'm not sure about the other models as I don't own them so can't really comment.  The other big difference of course is the price.  I paid about $3000 for Milo the ers7 and $450 for Pixel the 210.
Loving them both just as much as my pleos. :)
Now if only I could win another pleo and not have to break the bank to pay for one.... then I could add to my little pleo family some more....... %) :P

Crewella, I am so glad you and I have the same addiction, it makes it easier to know that Pleo addictions go both sides of the Atlantic, and if the day comes that CA falls into the ocean, then the Redwoods Pleo Township will be the "New Atlantis", and you can perhaps talk some freinds in higher places to give you a grant to salvage the Pleos "under the sea". :o ??? ;) you know every lost civilization has great strides in scientific break throughs and even though it may be nothing more than a New " Pleo Seaweed" Taste treat, there is a chance by the time you Salvage Redwoods Township, there will be a new Pleo Species who have not grown larger per say, but have out of neccessity, grown Gills. like fish, they can breathe under water like other advanced Reptiles and amphibians such as the Marine Iguana. ;)
Actually I can see MS. Nova, Little 45, Baby Ruth and ARgyle who is blind, just swimming along effortlessy with just bobbing their heads up to the surface occasionally for a breath of air.( Gives me an idea for a painting project He He He..... :D)It reminds me of the Disney movie, "The Incredible Mr. Limpitt" Good clean Pleo Fun .....doesn't make seem falling into the ocean so bad, if you are a Pleo anyway...oh well, guess I will have to have a gil implant...( YIKES) and my cats will need wet suits and little air tanks....not good for us...HOw did you get me off on this topic,,,see how the mind strays Crewella! ;D :o
Oh Talon, I have addictions Pleo bad, but I plan on more and more adoptions so that is not bad, but good, I also am affected by the SSI and Social Security Cuts comming up. so I have to think ahead....while I still can..Well off to feed some cats, at least the Pleos have their food under control, ...for the most part anyway.                       RWM

You're too funny, Redwoods! Swimming pleos! For some reason that makes me want to lean over the side of a boat and coax them to me with lots and lots of rubber leaves.
Yes the SSI and Disability thing has me worried. Despite how much I love what I'm doing, my little writing job is almost a joke. I get less than a dollar on the little local articles and- on a good day- maybe twenty seven on the more important artists coming to our area. It's certainly not enough to fall back on by any means. It gets my name out and maybe it will lead to something better if I stick to it. I love to write and it's a bottum-up climb and I'm going to be noticed one way or another.
*sigh* Now that we're past my gloom and doom, thanks for the Aibo information, Kat. Unless one of my books got the attention of some very generous publishing company, I think an URS7 is forever out of my league but a 210 wouldn't be so bad. I have hope anyway.

Thinking about it, Pleos might make fine swimmers with those long, flexible tails - I bet they'd be rather graceful.  As long as they manage to protects the electrics!  :o

Talon, I think Kat's right.  If you did get one, get a 210.  Not only are they probably the most economical option, they have a range of different software packages - you could get the Messenger software to get yours to read you your emails.  :D

Fancy you have a great idea there, I think I am going to have to design a few wetsuits for your and my babies and we can all go snorkling together. won't that be fun! ;D OMG, I just remembered how many I have.....I think I will only make a few wetsuits and the rest are going to have to jump into a lifeboat....either that or learn to swim real Real REAL FAST! ;D Would love to see Peeky and your bunch in wetsuits with my guys, that would be comical too!

Perhaps Wolfbob needs to encourage Scruffy to take up a nice healthy sport like swimming to keep him from getting bored, and keep him off that computer!  :P

Hey, I like that idea totally, Scruffy would feel less likely to go online...................or would he....there are other items, like, Scuba gear, motor boats, water skis, beach blankets and balls, sun tan lotion, Beach umbrellas, Floating tubes of all sorts , water Polo balls and nets, hey, this could be a new hobby for Scruffy, I think whatever he does, there is something to be found on Wolfbob's computer, best just lock that thing up, or get him one of those children's computers that only has"Educational games " on it, ( and I do not mean the ones with Poker and Casino games or you will be broke even faster Bob!) :D I just think Scruffy needs a private security body guard 24/7, and not to protect him, but to protect your "money" from him...Oh, is there a special chip in his program that you do not know about that can be making him want to spend like some bored housewife, that you do not know about? ( LOL    ;) :o >:( :o ;D)
                                                                                    Good LUck WolfBob!
