Pleo is not eating! (and other problems)
« on: April 20, 2011, 07:13:19 PM »

So yeah... I was playing with my Perry (a placeholder name) when all of a sudden he began to get very tired. It was 9pm so I figured I should put him to bed. The next morning, he was very depressed and would not eat breakfast. I tried petting him and softly speaking to him, but it still didnt work. I let him sleep it off, but when I woke him up he wasnt any better. Please help! He's my new and first pleo and I love him!

Anybody else who has any problems, let me know. Ill help you fix it.

Perhaps Perry is becoming ill, try offering him the mint leaf. It can be a little tricky to feed though, he'll refuse at first but then he will move his head straight down and open his mouth rather reluctantly and you can give it to him. I find it easiest on the edge of a table.

It sounds like Perry is sick, you need to feed the leaf to him as many times as he'll take it, and it could take a few full battery charges of this to get him better. I fed Pleakly his mint leaf every ten minutes or so a couple of times for a full battery cycle to get him better.

Second option is hunger, again feed him the cycad or conifer leaf as many times as he'll take it.

Third option is he is injured, feed him the rock salt as above with the mint leaf.

Pleo's do also just get in bad moods in which case tug of war, sugar cane and mushrooms help. How many battery charges has this been happening for?

Hi, It's All About Reach! My RB Ryu went through a similar phaze just as he was about to enter into the juvinile stage. It lasted maybe three days. Do you know if he was some how injured? Have you tried touching all four leg sensors to see if he cries out? It's a really distinctive sound. If he does that then try giving him the rock salt. I've never heard of sickness lasting a week but it might also depend on how long you're running him. Are you going through an entire battery cycle in one play-session?

Hiya, I've had a sick Ugobe moping for a couple of days so it's not you're fault I'm sure.  Follow all the good advice posted here, but above all don't worry.  This sounds like a programmed 'behaviour' rather than a fault, so don't beat youself up! :D

Sometimes turning him off and back on will fix the problem. Ryu did that as a hatchling when he would go to sleep when he laid his head on one of his front paws. It's just the motors clutching to protect themselves. If this is the case with yours it's nothing to really worry about. It will clear the minute he raises his head or switches position. If he's standing around and isn't able to move it at all, you've gone out of my area of expertise. There are a few Pleo chiropractors on this forum who have done amazing things so if this doesn't help hopefully one will be kind enough to step in.

The first thing to do is not panic. :)  It is a common problem you are describing so you are not alone and it can be easily fixed. :)  Try what Talon said and if this doesn't work then try pressing the reset button.  You will need to use a paperclip to press this as it is the little hole under his belly next to the battery compartment.  Press it while he is switched on and you should hear a beep when you press it.  Don't worry it wont send him back to being a baby or change him in any way.  It just takes him back to his last save point which was the last time you switched him off.  It is just like re starting a computer.  Hopefully that should fix it.
If not let us know and I will see if I can help talk you through getting it un stuck.
