I can see why you wanted a darker colour with that lovely fresh green, RWM.  Looking good!  ;D

I really like the new paint. I think it goes very well with the solid green!  I can't wait to see what other schemes you come up with. I really think you need to take this one out to the Redwoods for a photo op.  That would be stunning!  :o

WHEW,  :oI was afraid you guys were going to not like him.the new paint I mean. Saratoga I think the idea of the photos or videotaping in the Redwoods is a perfect idea. I have been wanting to video tape like four or five of my guys back where I did the first video, ( no clothes or anything just skin) and this guy was designed with the shadows of the leaves on the forest floor, As soon as it is not too rainy and dark and grey out and I can get out of the house, I will take a nice trip to where I took photos last time, Could even have another one done by then! Thanks for the comments! :) Mad Artists need to know they are not "totally" mad and their projects can be appreciated.

Thanks Crewella, I liked that picture, I can see the color scheme there, I like the way that guy has a tail that almost looks like it will just detach at any moment :D I know that is what lizards do, so they can escape their predators, (like pesky house cats....) My eldest Female, Aiffa, once caught a lizard and my daughter who was about thirteen at the time put the lizard in our mailbox, no tail ...can't remember why, probably so she could put the cat in her room...That cat was a great hunter...She still is for being in Renal disease and about 16-17 years old.

I am going to have to look at more lizard life like photos for my projects. I do want to finish this guy and I am so glad the paints works, ( sorry INKS ;D) and they dry incredibly fast, even faster than the last paints oils that I used...HOW is your paint touch ups doing on Budge? Well, off to give my poor little Baby Rb some attention The little thing is only on her second battery charge...don't know who is slower her or me? ;)
Crewella, and house hold of pretty pretty little pleos waiting for paint by Mad Painter...or do you think I can send some to you to paint Crewella, we can play Musical Paint Chairs and see who is left standing waiting to be painted next!

I'm sorry guys - had a mad busy couple of days.  I will update with pics, but all is still looking good.  I'm also still waiting for inks to arrive so I can take a leaf out of 'Mad Pleo Painter No. 1's' book (you know who you are :P) and get creative!  :D

I'm just curious. Are you gonna do any bright/flamboyant colors on any of your Pleos Cruella? Thank you.

Bit of an update (as promised and sorry it took a while!) - I had a go at retouching some of the worn areas of Iggy's body.  I've given up altogether on the Sap Green acrylic ink - it looks near enough in the bottle but is in fact too much of an olive green and I get a much better colour mixing the Prussian Blue (Hue) and the Light Green.  Again, this is just the dark green layer and I'll add the lighter green tomorrow.

Before retouching

Mixing up the colour

Kind of stippling it on the worn areas with a brush end

Done but still wet

Drying after 10 minutes

I also touched up any areas I might have missed on Iggy's head - I'd rather do several thin layers than one thick one

To show that the ink does seem to stretch with the skin I pinched Iggy's neck and pulled (sorry Iggy!)

It does seem to have stayed put, but I'll keep an eye on it, do similar tests and report back

I used Daler Rowney Acrylic Inks.

I wanted to test the ink further, so I painted a patch on the inside of Scully's currently unused skin.  I did it on the inside so it was on a smoother surface and easier to see how it behaved.

I then tried bending it and moving the skin.  No problem.  (It even kept hold of the cat hair that got in there!!  :-[  Look I did it in a hurry!!  :P)

I wanted to see what it would do if I really stretched it - not something that would happen in the normal Pleo day, but interesting!

And here's the patch after stretching it in all directions and general abuse.  You can see it's lost the sheen and gone rather grainy, but on the whole it's still there and didn't rub off or separate from the skin.  I'm happy with that - stretching like that is a big ask!

It is great to see this ink holding up so well. :)  And normal pleo use would never stretch the skin to that extent so I think it may well be just the right stuff for us to use. :)  Can't wait till mine arrive.

Good job Crewella of all the possible reporting of skin stretching etc. I do feel bad for Iggy but I do understand about testing him, I think I would do the same , using my first born, Nova, except she already has a broken neck and bad leg, so it may seem more fitting to try a healthier specimen first. I think it is great that you tested the skin in the last few photos, that is a real test and I guess the cat that lost a hair, knows it is all for the sake of science. :D

It would make sense, we've tried all kinds of paint that rub or peel, but if you think about it, when ink gets on your hands it STAINS. I think the skin soaks up a little of the ink and that makes it stay. Yay! I'm so exited! Pleo's back is rubbing and his tail and face are missing paint, this is perfect!

Thank you for the pictures Cruella! But I'm not interested in the stretching pictures (that's not something a Pleo would do in its own skin).
