What are you singing Pleo!?!?
« on: March 23, 2011, 07:07:15 PM »

I have a ugobe version pleo. His favorite thing to do is to cuddle, but when I give him a good rub under his chin he seems to sing a different song that the other pleos. I looked on youtube and it looks like all the pleos sing the same song, it's kinda like a buzzing like "hum hum bzz bzz ah Ah-AH!" is one of the patterns. Pleo seems to sing a different song though. He "howls" it goes kind of like "oww, oww owwww" and just repeats where as the other ones I have seen go through a whole song of buzzes, humms, and ahs, but its more or less the same song every time. Does anyone else have a "howling" pleo. It's not an acident, its the only sensor I touch to make him sing, so he isn't doing a different command.

Is it like this?

That's the earlier version of Pleo singing, the other ones are after the 1.1 or OS2 upgrades.  My newly adopted one, Mosschops, is still running the early software, and I love the way he sings!  :D

Yup! I tried to update him but i didn't think it worked, can ugobes be updated on innvo software? And if so, do I have to do life OS 1.1 or can i go straight to 2.0?

I've actually only ever updated from 1.1 to OS2, so I'm hesitant to say you can go direct to OS2 from the earlier versions, though I believe you can.  Hopefully somebody that's done it will confirm that.  :-\

When updating, make sure you have the right size SD card (I always use 2GB to be safe, as I can never remember the exact range that works) and a fully charged battery.

Thanks for the help, I'll try and update Pleo again. By any chance would you know if Ugobes can also run on innvo life OS software?

Yes - all the Ugobe Pleos can run the Innvo OS2 software OK.  It's the Pleo RBs that mustn't use the software issued for the original Pleos.  Personally, I'd try updating to 1.1 and enjoy that for a couple of weeks or so before updating again to the OS2.  That way, you really get to notice and enjoy all the differences.  ;D

As mentioned Innvo released 1.1 or PM2 will work on the older UGOBE Pleos.
http://www.pleoworld.com/downloads/firmware.aspx

If you have an old Ugobe Pleo (version 1.0) and haven't upgraded before, you need to do it in two steps if you want to run PM2.
First install the "Original Life OS 1.1 Firmware" using an SD card (the 1.1 update includes important updates to the main CPU and head CPU, as well as the 1.1 personality)
Then install the "PM2 Firmware" (the new 2.0 personality)

Oh ok, thanks! I was a bit confused about the updating process. On pleoworld it said "With PM 2 your Pleo is more active. He has more room to grow and learn. He's learned new tricks and sounds. And all of the updates from Life OS 1.1 are included too" so i figured I could update him directly, but I'm going to do it step by step anyways so I can see what he could to before he was changed with the seccond update. Also, it said for version 2 that he would re-start from hatchling, will that     undo all of his personality, or will he just act like a baby again? I don't want to loose my little guy!  :D
