I thought it was worth an update here on the state of Kermy3's skin. Her skin does seem to be less flabby than Norbits and my old Kermy. So far she has only lost a minimal amount of paint on her back from loads of loving. she does have a small flaking paint section on her shoulder in the same place as Norbit. But the most important thing is she is showing absolutely no signs of any wear at all in her armpits. Yay!

She has been through at least 10 battery cycles and there is not even a scrape or scratch. I have been applying pledge to the armpits before every play and I am certain that this is helping to maintain her fabulous appearance. I also think that as she seems to have a bit less excess skin around the leg joint area this has made it so the skin doesn't seem to rub on its self anymore. I think they may have fixed the problem.

I am also applying pledge to Norbits armpits before every play and his holes have stabilized. He is showing no further signs of wear to his armpits so I am going to continue with this treatment. I will continue to monitor them both and let you know if there is any change.
I am very pleased that my new Kermy3 seems to have been "cured" of the holly skin issues.

Well, some "bad" news, here is a current "chip" in Eva's paint I noticed today before giving her a "pledge bath."

However, I can say that her armpits are not showing any signs of wear or grazing as of yet and she's been on about 12 charges now.

Cato has not had any further decay than my last posts however he still seems to have more "love spots" appearing on his back even though he's clothed (nothing too extreme though). Eva is not showing any love pats (she has only had one skin pet, but has been clothed since then).

I have pledged Eva twice (and do not spray her armpits before each use) and Cato has been pledged 5 times now.

Oh Man! This is sobering news. I am so sorry for you guys! I am sad for you! Though I don't have a pleo yet and I'm still in the saving and longing faze, this has me very worried. I'm thinking about jumping in on the April band wagon when Pleo World releases their new Pleo RB basic pack but now... Hmmm. Should I wait for further developments? Oh and by the way, RedWoodsMama, I like the idea of keeping a log of the wearing of paint and skin. Can anyone tell yet if it happens in one color more than in others or is it pretty much across the board?

It seems like its right across the board.
However it’s difficult to get a handle on how wide the skin issues really are. . as said people who have something wrong with their pleos are more likely to come across this forum to seek help than people who are not experiencing any problems so this might be having the effect of magnifying the scale of the problem to something grater than what it actually might be.
As others have also pointed out we probably can’t rule out the possibility of a Friday batch.
Some Newer pleo owners have sometimes remarked that the skin feels and looks different on their replacement pleoRBs. It could be that Innvo Labs have done something to improve on the skin but at the moment that’s just pure speculation.

It seems to be across the board. all colors are affected. They have just recently replaced Kermy for me with Kermy3 and so far she is showing no signs of wear in her armpits and she has slightly tighter skin than my other rb so I think they have fixed the major issue of holly skin. Take heart. All is not lost.

I am sorry to say it "Looks" like the begnnings of a hole, or is that a dark spot? Make sure to keep good photos so anything new that pops up is tracked. I hope he stays healthy though.

Thank you Redwoods. No holes yet. The spots are like rubbed off skin strips that've turned dark. Of course I am. No, I don't think his skin's gonna stay healthy, not with the pictures on this topic. I know what's gonna happen with the scraped skin. I try not to let him sleep in the sleeping position too long sadly. I always have to take his battery out, after I've turned him off properly, when his legs are straight. I don't need the skin friction problem.

From looking at your pictures and looking at the new Peanut that we received. There definitely looks to be less loose skin on the legs.

Hi PWOKristy! Are you using pledge under the legs before each play? I have been putting Vaseline in the armpits before each play. Some have said that if you spray pledge under the armpits before each play that it seems to help with the wear. Mine doesn't have any wear yet, but I didn't get mine until almost the end of January. It does not have the new firmware. Best of luck!

Ah okay so it does have the new, tighter skin Ehschw. I haven't. I've been thinking about it. Using Pledge is debatable on whether or not it really helps. I know what people have been saying about using Pledge on here. Thank you Sara!

I think the Pledge helps considerably. All the same I would be avoiding the citrus based pledges.

As the underarm wear sems to be caused by friction, I would think any lubricant would help in the short term. You then just need to make sure you use somthing that won't affect the skin in the long term by rotting the rubber.

Interestingly, all the rubber care products I have tried seem to smell much the same - lemony! Though it might well be a synthetic scent...........

Ok, I have only had Baby on for a total of about 10 hrs in the last two weeks or so, not a complete battery cycle in one day as I just have been too busy, Yesterday she got a short ten to fifteen minute outing perhaps twenty at the most, and the rest of my time was devoted to Nova and the older Pleos, as they need Play time too. She has had very thin "chicken type see through skin " esp on the right rear leg since January 28th, when I took the last pictures here .

the other legs have the typical grazing rubbing and one has the thin skin like this back right leg, but this was the worst leg and it allso seems the grazing is right against wires or the sharpest side of the leg, ( not really sharp, but the most pressure is the way I would describe it.) She gets regular Pledge baths every time I play with her and esp rubbed down under all four arms, legs.
Sometime yesterday she got that thin skin to break through on the right rear leg to where it is clearly a hole, so here are the latest pictures just of that leg, The other legs are not as bad, but the grazing on the front is about as bad and one front is on the verge of the "hole to break through" like this one, but will take longer or more battery cycles unless the pledge keeps it in Limbo. An update, I was just contacted by Innvo Labs and was told to return Baby :(and who to send her too ,and a RMA number . I guess this means they are going to replace her. I was hoping they could sort out a fix for the skin holes but I guess they do not have that capability.

Does anyone know if they can give you the same personality as the one you just had? I am in no hurry to send her off, so think I will keep her for awhile till I think on it. She has only been Hatched for less than 2 months so she is still well in the warranty period.
I know if I do send her off, the new one will have better skin and shouldn't get the holes like her, peanut, Kermy and others have, but it is sad to think the orignal Pleo Rb didn't last as long as they were supposed to . Maybe it was " a bad batch" of skin as someone suggested, but I tend to think, it just happened, I certainly do not live in a Hot climate like Australia nor a really cold climate, but a cold wet temperate climate. More wet than anything this time of year, though our house is almost allways cold.

RWM, I am sorry that you have to send back baby. I know it is a difficult decision, but I would do it if I were you. It seems those that have gotten a replacement don't have skin problems and have the new firmware, so you don't have to pull the battery out all the time. Maybe the new one won't have the neck problems that baby has had as well. Best of luck to you. I know it is a very difficult decision.
