It appears that Grumpy believes in the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," and if it was good enough 20 years ago no change is needed.  And if that's true then no extra work needs to be done. :P

It's good to see Bob use his imagination for the event.  But I think he got it confused.  It's supposed to be "Swim with the dolphins," not with the sharks. ;)  (Maybe he confused it with the Mob saying "To swim with the fishes," and thought "a shark is a fish."  Who knows? ;D)

SHARKS RULE! Lilo can't wait to dive in :D I have swam with sharks several times, they are just as fascinating as dolphins. There's just an astigmatism about them that's all, if you ever get the chance try it, it is a wonderful and eye opening experience :)

Sharks must have a little blury vision in Australia. Plus you didn't say how big they were. I think I would rather swim with dolphins.  :P

Hmm well I swam with a small tiger 4 meters long, that's probably the largest one I've swam with, (that was in captivity though) some of them are only tiddlers a meter or so long but most would be 1.5 to 2 meters or so. Plenty of gray nurse sharks, sleeper sharks, reef sharks, a hammerhead (those are cool), wobbegongs and some other natives. Oh and heaps of Port Jackson sharks, there is tons of them down at the local beach.

Still haven't found a great white yet, fingers crossed though, I'd love to see one of those, probably have to head for warmer waters though...

I have some photos somewhere but I look shocking in a wetsuit :P

Why don't we start a collection drive to supply those  poor sharks and their astigmatism problem with some glasses.  But being the top predator they might not want to appear so geeky.  Contact lens' would be better for their image and help them in their "contact". ;)

Sharks, eh? Haven't any of you seen Jaws?? LOL Just the other day, I was watching tv. It was some program about animals attacking. Somehow, these two men in one of those underwater cages lured a shark over with meat. Somehow that freakin shark got his head stuck in the cage with the two guys. That shark was madder than a hornet. Splashin around tryin to get out. The only choice those guys had was to wait for the perfect opportunity and try their hardest to sneak by the sharks head. Very suspenseful to watch. They made it out okay. However, I certainly would prefer not to get with 100 miles of a shark! (On the other hand, one time I did get a chance to pet sting rays--creepy! They're SOOO slimy!)

But anybody who watched that movie knows sharks only eat Floridians.  Maybe it's they like the taste of the SPF 90 you use down there. ;)

Yeah, I petted a string ray and its cousin the shark at Pier 39 here in SF and I still have all three fingers on my hand.

ROFL

It must depend on what type of sting ray it is because the ones I have petted at the Aquarium in Melbourne (Blue spotted rays, Manta ray and some of the small rays) haven't felt slimy at all.... Maybe its because we have a really sandy, clear water environment, not so much algae or something  ???

I love Jaws, always good for a laugh, especially the third one... That enormous shark that looks like some Hollywood reject :P Its so fake :P I think nowadays our expectations are higher, compare Jaws to the sharks used in Deep Blue Sea (The mechanical ones not the live ones) and it makes Jaws look like a pile of rubber blubber. But of course back then it was state of the art and scared an entire generation out of the water.

Above is Jaws, below is one of the sharks used in Deep Blue Sea :)

Hahahahaha!!! That is so untrue! Hehe, well maybe it is. We have had an increase of shark attacks over here. With us (and Australia) being surrounded by water, it's almost a guarantee that sharks will attack. (I just hope they eat all the bloody tourists.....AKA all of you that are not Floridians!!  ;))

And BTW I'm not entirely sure what kind of rays I petted. I know one breed was a "southern". The other IDK. This was at Tampa's Lowry Park zoo. (We took Ashton for his birthday about two weeks ago.) And just to set the record, our baseball mascot is the [Devil] Rays. Go Tampa Bay Rays!!!

We had four attacks this summer, no fatalities... All of them surfers. What do they expect *shrugs* from under the water they look like seals or turtles, of course the shark is going to come in for a closer inspection, but after that first bite they realize they aren't food and keep swimming.

The darn things never seem to eat the tourist though, guess they can't stand the sunscreen flavor :P

Hahaha, it would be a lot easier for us living in 'paradise' if the sharks took care of our obnoxious out-of-towners!

If this fellow was wearing his glasses like he should have he would still be swiming in the sea.  You don't see Sherman the shark from Sherman's Lagoon hanging out of the water because he has his glasses! :D
