I also agree with Crewella, another important fact to consider is the age of your children. the older original Pleos state ages 8 +. If I remember correctly, the newer Pleo rb reccomend ages 12 +. They are more durable paint wise etc, but they are more independant in some features and the fact that they will react to cold or heat quicker and if a younger child does not recognize the shivering or panting, they may become frustrated. Also as Kat can tell you, they will act accordingly if injured, bumped accidently etc. and listening to a crying Pleo Rb that sounds like it is in agony, may be too distressing to a younger child.

It does teach reponsibility but I personally if had a younger child, would probably start with a Pleo Ugobe or one made by Innova and see how the children enjoy and interact with that Pleo, The Pleo Rb also as Kat can tell you only react to one person's voice with the idenity card they are given, and I can see a household of two or more children getting upset that their new Pleo Rb does not respond to them, it may create jealousy or resentment between children who can not understand the technical side of Pleo Rb, this is one reason it is reccomended for children ages 12+.( In my opinion)
I started with a Ugobe Pleo and I love her to death. I would never trade her for a newer Pleo rb, even though I am getting one, it is more of curiousity than anything. Also if your children do very well with an older Pleo, you can allways sell the Pleo ( if you can bear to do so after getting attached and you will in my opinion

) then you can buy a Pleo Rb after they have been out for awhile.
Pleo Rb are a great interactive Robot, but they are also quite an investment and if you are not sure how your children will react to such an advanced life form, I would wait and read all you can and watch all the videos you can and take all the things that are important into consideration and then decide.
I do think there will be people who get Pleo Rb for their children thinking they can handle the responsibilty, then find out either the Pleo rb is too advanced or for some reason the child has lost interest in this expensive item. Whatever Pleo you may decide to get , it is hard to imagine NOT falling in love with this little being! I know I am hooked for Life!
