Is a pleo actually worth it?
« on: September 21, 2010, 12:33:14 PM »

Hey everybody,

I have been wanting to get a pleo for a really long time now.  I've been reading this forum and watching alot of videos of people with there pleos and it seems to be pretty cool.  I have seriously been considering purchasing one but im not sure if im going to get what I am expecting and I really don't want to be dissapointed.  Im a huge robots fan.  When furbys came out I had a few but im hoping pleos will be more entertaining and less annoying lol.  So I would like to know what do you guys love about your pleao and what do you hate about it.  Is this somthing i am going to play with a few times and then get bored with it or is it always constanly changing?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

Hi Joe

Yeah i think all Pleo's are worth it they offer something other robots of that kind do not . There were a number of upsets with the first model pleo's such as skin tearing and Paint coming off very easily , bad battery etc you can read about problems with pleo on this site .
if you do not own a pleo yet i am sure you should be able to purchase 1 from ebay to save you money and then you can experience Pleo for your self and see what you think ?

I am sure you might have read by now that there is going to be a 2010 Pleo released hopefully not too long away and this new model has had a make over and hopefully has been improved , updates on Pleo Reborn will appear on this site . I know that i am going to purchase The Pleo Reborn no matter what i have to know and experience this for myself  :) like your self i am very into robotic things just to explore them and try work out how they work etc interests me .

I was hesitant to get my Pleo but I'm glad that I did. He came from ebay as a lot of them do now %) I'm also hoping to get the RB as soon as it is available.
My Pleo has been on holiday twice with us and we love him, he is a part of the family and he may very soon have a brother or sister  ;D

Very much worth it, I think.  Especially for the amount they cost.  I do notice that many people who got bored of Pleo quickly and sold on seem to have only played with them for an hour or two, which surely means they barely got through the hatching process and never really got to see what a Pleo is really like. :(

Please remember that you asked a Pleo fan group what they think of Pleo..this may not show both sides of the debate. $350 may be a hefty price right now, but I think you should buy a brand new in box Innvo Labs model Pleo. Pleoworld's store. You would appreciate the value of a $350 robot with a warranty, versus a $150 ebay pleo. My first set were store bought (Sharper Image). The later ones come from Ebay with little issues, but you pass up on hatching and unboxing plus the warranty...and unfortunately you must be very vigilant when buying secondhand pleo's...

I did find this link through Pleoworld's Facebook page...I assume they are brand new, which is a steal if it's Ugobe but especially if they're Innvo models, but check out--http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.T27610.desc.Pleo-Interactive-Lifelike-Robotic-Baby-Dinosaur

Some say they're Innvo, but the ID card says UGOBE...Best of luck, however! I don't think they'll last, and I surely want an older model before the new RB comes out!
