One thing that I don't remember reading or having anyone ask is this: is the Pleo RB, going to have the 2:0 Operating system, or something completely different. ? I never thought about that before, but now I realize that is something I have been wondering about and wanting to know, None of my current Pleos have the 2:0 operating system, simply because I do not like it, and Nova was miserable, All she did was cry and scream and walk around aimlessly, looking like a wounded animal, I hope that Pleo RB with all these wonderful improvements and accessories has a better operating system then the way 2:0 was when I downloaded it for Nova.
I am not saying 2:0 is bad, just that I did not like the way Nova acted with it, and it was too hard to watch her in misery. I am not exaggerating either, I could post a video of how terrible she sounded and acted, but that is another subject. Does anyone else have any comments on the operating system for Pleo RB or do you think they made changes all together? %)

Given that there is new hardware (built-in clock, sensor for training stones) the OS will have to be a different version to have support for the new hardware and capabilities. I suspect the Pleo RB will have a significantly different OS than the 2.0 we tried on our Pleos. Hoping it maintains the social mode that makes our Pleos so responsive and from what I read about 2.0 did not stay active the same as in earlier versions resulting in some of the dissatisfaction with the 2.0.

I hear that! I surely hope they have something better than the bitter 2.0.....please do not get me wrong, I did like the improvements of 2.0, but the flaws surely outweighed the good. If they fixed all the bugs in maybe a 2.1, I'd be satisfied...

To play off of this, any *official* word on if software could be downgraded to earlier versions?

shadowmice you put it better than I ever could!  You are spot on.

The internal body clock is powered off a watch battery in the back right foot.  There is a button on the bottom of Pleo which should be pressed at midday, this sets the clock.  Pleo will now get tired later on in the evening etc.

is the clock Button hidden under the foot pad of the right foot as well , and does this foot with the clock battery lose its touch sensor or is this still present in this foot ?

The noon button is in the foot with the clock battery.

I do not know if the floor sensor is lost in this foot, however it is in many ways redundant as there are three other surface sensors.

Erm, all Pleos have four feet.  Each foot is a surface sensor.

lol and there i was thinking there might be added sensors  :-[

i assumed this as you said in many ways it was redundant , i would of thought it might be important that pleo has sensors in all feet ? Lets just hope the sensor is not lost then, i mean to some people that will be like Pleo losing a foot lol

Degers, thank you again for more information and for talking about the clock sensor and timer. Is it a given that all Pleos should be set to this mid-day timing? what happens for those of us who either work late hours or have time to play, primarily only under artificial light, and it is late in the evening? Does this mean that Pleo RB is allways going to be tired and not want to play and interact? :( what would happen if you lived in a place where it was light for 6 months of the year, or vice versa, dark for 6 months?
If this clock is not set, does it affect any of the other new features? Hope I don't sound stupid, just asking a question I wonder about and when I read that Pleo would get tired later in the day, it sounds too programed to me, which I like the idividuality of being able to interact with Pleo when the time is right for the owner, Myself.
I can see that a lot of people will love this feature and make it seem more like a " real Pet", ( except cats, which are more active at dawn and dusk, they allways seem to come alive when I am ready to go to bed... :D) Are there any other " time buttons" , besides this Noon button, that you can tell us about yet?
Thank you for listening to another question.

Just set your 'noon' later or earlier depending on when you play with Pleo.  Simples.

Is there any1 from the Uk that bought a innova pleo from pleoworld ? just wanted to know what the postage was on that and how much custom fee's were if there was any ?

I'm another one that will be setting 'noon' at strange times!  As long as we can set it when we like it sounds a great idea! :D

That is one thing that drives me nuts about the PleoWorld site - for the UK (might be different for US?) you seem to have to go right through the process of ordering something before you can find out what the shipping cost is! >:(

I *believe* we are the same...

Degers, we could still opt out entirely from clicking the midday button, couldn't we? As RWM has stated, Sophie's on time is more or less at my whim. If I come home from work at 4AM, and I want Pleo, then I will have Pleo. If at 2PM..well you get the idea..10PM..10AM..I am highly inconsistent, and from what I think I understand, I dislike the clock feature, all together... )-:

I can't answer your question gucci.

The clock feature was invented to provide realism.  When I arrive home at night late from work then my dogs are tired and already lazing in their beds.  On one hand people want realism from their Pleo, on the other hand they want a robot.  i don't think Innvo or Jetta will ever be able to please people!

Why don't you just set noon whenever you turn your Pleo on if you want a contantly active Pleo?

How is this 'realism'? Consider me a pessimist, but that's more tech than I care for, and ultimately just becomes a bigger hassle. If Innvo wanted to further it's realism, they would continue to follow status quo. If Pleo's battery is charged, pleo is awake. If pleo's battery is dying, pleo should be getting tired...Like I said, I want to play with Sophie whenever I please. With my luck, after being fully charged, and when it's convenient for me, Sophie would just up and fall asleep, because this stupid clock tells her to? How is that realistic? I don't have a clock in me, and I know I'm real...Again, not a personal attack on you, Degers, I am highly appreciative of all the info you've provided us with. But Innvo, I really think I am going to dislike the clock feature..forgive me, if I over-analyzed...

Real-life creatures get tired at night.  Real-life creatures lack batteries that get low after a certain interval of time.

That's how it's realism.

ok this clock feature i do not think will effect our play time with pleo at all , like Degers has said just set noon to a time that suits you best so you get all the active time out of Pleo .

WHAT I HOPE THE MOST is Pleo will be more responsive to sound and sight Now that is realism which to me should be quite important if you are creating a life form .   ;D

i agree, i dont think the clock feature is most important to get realism (in tamagotchi the clock is important to celebrate events and night and day events). You can get the most lifelike pet the more interactive that electronic pet is. I hope to see many features in this new pleo, the 2009 version was just a relunch of the same product, i hope to see a new fresh pleo and i hope to see it all around the world, not only on a website ;) and last but not least i hope Innvo release a Life Os that looks like the 1.2 upgrade, this is the most lifelike upgrade i ever seen after the pleo launch, the other are just things to transform Pleo in a robotic toy.

Yep, sigh and sound improvements were my top two as well.  It's funny how doing the poll made me prioritise and realise what I REALLY wanted! ;)

Gucci, I tend to want Pleo as and when as well.  I suspect that this is an existential problem - instead of thinking of it as 'Pleo wakes at noon' we will have to look at it as 'noon is when Pleo wakes up' and, if necessary, reset it each time! ;D

Not all creatures operate the same. Whether it be their 'internal clock' or their brain or their batteries.

What I am saying is since Pleo is a consumer robot, I want Pleo time at my discretion, again, allow me to restate, my life lacks consistency, and I have no specific times for anything. I do not understand why so many of you are in favor for this? I just will simply not use the clock feature at all.

Why can pleo not be tired when his battery is running low? What's wrong with that?

Nope, neither will I - I don't use it on the Aibo either.  Like you, I lead a very irregular lifestyle and all my pets just have to get used to it (only the hamster used to get grumpy!). :D
