Wow cool, artichokes in a jar :) I am going to see if I can find them here, I'd love to try them. I've never seen fresh ones at any of the greengrocers here so i can't try fresh :(

I don't like anchovies either, eek! Even my cat won't eat those.

Some people like to dip the meaty part of the leaf in butter. I love mayonnaise. Then you pull the leaf between your teeth to scrape the meat off with your bottom teeth. Sounds gross but is so good. Yum!
It has to be Best Foods Mayonnaise, (Hellman's Mayonnaise for you East of the Rockies Mountains.  Those Down Under may be out of luck as far as mayonnaise is concerned.)

You are left with a nice round concaved meaty center.
Can't buy this in a jar.
True!  The artichoke hearts in the jar or can has been pickled and are great in salads.  But no comparison with the taste of fresh.  BTW, for those who don't know artichokes, what you eat is the immature flower of a large thistle.

Do you use a blender?  Or are you a traditionalist and use a wire whisk? ;)

I love food!! The only thing I can say for artichokes is, they're good but [to me] they're nothing over the top (However Fancyfont's description is definitely mouth-watering!)

49er, I don't eat mayo, but surely we have Hellman's in the fridge. Here in the South, we saturate EVERYTHING with butter!! Hehe

Artichokes are scrumptious dipped in melted butter.
Believe or not, I've never made mayo :-[.

Hehe, now I'm craving artichokes, AND butter!! We'll have to find Sophie the rubber version of artichokes. :-P I never made mayo either. It's rather simple though, eh? Just eggs, and vinegar[?] IDK....

Unlike InmemoryofRomeo, when I made mayonnaise I used a blender.  Using the blender it's fairly easy and it tasted and looked like Best Foods. ;D

For the acid I used lemon juice.  And don't forget to add the oil! ::)

As long as we are so off topic one of my hobbies used to be egg crafting.(Like Fabrege Eggs) I used emu, ostrich goose, turkey and chicken eggs. If only I had a dinosaur egg. ;D
A guy up here was trying to farm emus and would sell me his non fer talized eggs.
He once gave me a smaller egg that had not developed and while blowing it out, I discovered there had been a baby emu in it. I wondered why it was so hard to blow. :o For all of you softies, the baby had already died in the shell, but it was sure a surprise to me.

The emu eggs are naturally very dark green. They are about 6 inches long. The one with the little girl studying the solar system is the immature egg that had the chick in it. The smallest one is a goose egg.

Oh those are so wonderful!! You did such a nice job!

One time I received a hand-painted egg that this Ukraine lady made. It is so beautiful. I love those sort of eggs.
