Getting on the cape
« on: April 30, 2012, 10:34:43 PM »

Hi All,

Silly question I know. How do you get Pleo RB into the cape that comes with it, without extreme contortion on the part of Pleo.  I'm probably being overcautious since I just got her, but it is a bit of a challenge. ???

I don't recommend using the cape really. I don't like the elastic bands.

I'm not a fan of those rubber bands either. If they would cover them with cloth or something that would be better on pleo's skin. Anyway if you still want to use it, this is how I get mine on- in the rare occasion that I use it. Make sure your pleo is in the off packing position. Slide the bit that goes over the tail on first. Then you get your fingers through one of the bottom bands that go on one of the rear legs and ease it over the pleo's foot and move it upward to about the anckle- maybe the knee if it turns out to be too tight. I don't ever use both bands on the legs because it tends to make the motors cluch. It's easier to put them on one set of legs at a time. When you've got all four legs done, gently grab the bit that goes over the pleo's neck and pull it toward her head. This will get out any wrinkles that will make it harder to fasten that wimpy velcroe piece that closes under the pleo's neck. After all that, make sure the bands on the legs aren't twisted or too tight to allow movement. When you're satisfied, hit the on-button and have fun.

I'm also not a fan of the cape like the others due to the elastic bands on the legs.  But if it helps once you have the cape slid over the tail turn the pleo onto their back across your lap then wrestle the elastic over each foot.  :P

So far I've just been draping the cape over the PLEO, so I avoid touching it with my bare hands as much as possible.

We never used the cape on Sparky.  When we got Moxy I just cut the rubber bands off of the cape and let it hang down.  It's supported by being held on by the tail and head.  I added some velcro to make it a little looser around the neck.  It doesn't look great, but it does protect the paint and it feels good.  But now Sparky has the most luxurious capes that Kat made.  See them under the Hardware post about Sparky the rb neck repair.

when i got my pleo rb on monday i asked myself the same question.  %) slide the tail in first, slide the cape over your pleo's body, then taking the bottom elastic bands only, slide them over the pleo's front feet, then, do the same the the back feet. them strap the neck. good luck :P %)
